Creative CV

What exactly is a Creative CV? A Creative CV is a resume that uses design, colour, and sometimes even interactive elements to showcase your skills and experience. It's all about standing out and showing your unique flair. It's especially popular in fields like design, marketing, and animation and is a very good way to showcase your work and interests in interactive media and animation. For example, if you were to create a creative CV, you might include sketches or stills from a game you've created, or even a link to the game itself. You could use animation to illustrate your skills, like a mini clip of your character defeating an enemy to represent problem solving. it also needs to be functional too and It should still be easy to read and understand, and relevant to the job you're applying for.

What makes a good portfolio?

  • Work that is relevant to the position you're applying for.

  • A selective selection - 15 to 20 images max.

  • Work that shows your inspiration, thought-process, methods and techniques

  • Work from a variety of experiences - college, Uni, placement etc

  • Work that tells your creative journey

  • Good presentation

  • Prioritise quality over quantity

  • Get a second opinion before sending it out

  • Check everything works as it should

  • Don't rely solely on a web-based portfolio

  • Keep your portfolio up to date

Creative business cards

A creative business card is a unique and eye catching way to share your contact info. It isn't just listing your name, title, and contact info, it's an important piece of your personal or company brand. It can have unique materials, interesting shapes, or innovative design elements to grab attention. Why's it important? Business cards are all about making a lasting impression. When you hand someone a creative business card, they're more likely to remember you and can spark conversations, show off your creativity, and make you stand out.
