Process one: Making the pigeons

To create my Pigeons I used coloured Newplast clay. I decided to make each of their heads a different colour so the viewers can tell a difference between them. I wanted to keep them quite simplistic while also keeping the circular shape to them to show their bubbly, soft personality. I really like how they turned out although I had to add tails and white around their beaks because they were looking more penguin-like. For the eggs I got some white clay and rolled it around on the black that was left from when I was making the eyes, giving the illusion of inclusions although it was very faint.
Process Two: Making the background
When looking at different backgrounds. I decided I wanted the scene to take place in the park just outside the city. As I was researching I found these three photos which peaked my interest. I liked the idea of seeing the city in the background and the trees up close. I also liked the idea of keeping it simplistic just like how I created the pigeons. I was mainly inspired by the last photo because there isnt a lot of colour which suits my pigeons perfectly.

When making my sketch, I decided to change the look of the trees of the photo I was inspired by, I also wanted to make the buildings look less 3D so I can fully capture the trees and the pigeons and making them the main focus.

When making the background I got blue card and then added light green paper so it looks like grass. To make the trees stand out more, I decided to make them in felt and used a hot glue gun to stick them to the background. Each building is cut out of white paper and tucked under the green paper . I then added small details with a felt tip pen to the buildings and trees.

I wanted to add a 3D tree for my intro so I decided to make one. Unfortunately there wasn't any brown card so I ended up improvising by using white paper. I then drew a tree and used tracing paper to make 4 of them, I then cut them out and folded them in half, after that I stuck them together which created a 3D tree. I then painted it brown which looked better than I thought, I made sure the brush strokes were visible because it added detail similar to what actual trees have.
Although when it dried it was hard to stand up. because the bottom of the paper curled. I then cut out leaves in green card and folded them in half, again, giving the tree a new 3D look. I finally added leaves to each branch and was very happy with the outcome.
